Several weeks ago I headed off on an early morning to Great Falls National Park, Virginia. A foggy morning on the Potomac River!
The photo above is a long exposure image of the weir not too far upstream of the falls. This 4-minute exposure was taken with my Lee Big Stopper neutral density filter, which makes for a wonderful (I think) blurring of the water — both in the foreground and coming over the weir. I was really happy with the fog shrouding the treed island in the distance. A lucky morning, I’d say!
I walked a bit further upstream, and managed to get a few more images of the foggy river before the sun was up enough to burn it off. (These two images are “regular” — not long — exposures.)
I hope you enjoy the photos!
